It's a great feeling when you've put your heart into something and you finally see the end result and you're smiling. After a week of working every night on the old pine mirror that I painted recently and spoke about in my last post, it's finally finished and looks great. Some slight distressing was done first to create an 'old' look and then I découpaged it using a variety of vintage style materials which I overlapped in some places. After sealing and sanding several times (that's the boring part) I then used a wax for the final finishing. I'm super happy with it and hope you like it although I don't think the photos do it justice - it's not easy to photograph a mirror! Don't forget to leave a comment here or on my Facebook page as I'm always interested to hear what you think. Thanks for coming by.

Old Pine Mirror
I've had this basic old pine mirror for years, it usually hangs in the hall over my washstand table which is also pine and made from reclaimed wood. There's nothing to the mirror, it just has a simple frame so I thought it was time to funk it up......some chalk paint and perhaps a little découpage will do the trick to make it unusual and unique. Here it is with step one completed...

Come back soon to see what I do next.

Bedside Lockers
I'm on a roll now having completed the Chest of Drawers which I posted about earlier this month and I am ready to get stuck into these two pine bedside lockers. The are visually dated but are good quality and in great condition so why let them go to waste when they can be totally transformed?
I recently had my house painted and decided to re-do my bedroom so everything is getting a makeover and I'll be posting on the blog and on my Facebook page as I go along - it's a slow process in between trying to get everyone else's pieces finished, a full-time day job, a house to keep and child to look after - so bear with me!! I do eventually get there and love the challenge so do drop back to have a look!

Chest of Drawers Makeover - Distressing
Easter took up quite a bit of time in my schedule and I did enjoy every minute decorating the eggs and making the little bags. However, I'm delighted to get back to the furniture - the pine chest of drawers was what I was working on last (among other things!) and as I have a queue of other things to do I'd better get along with it!
It it coming along nicely and in the pics below you can see where I have put the knobs back and started some distressing at the edges. A little more distressing around the drawers next and then I will move on to the next stage. Looking good so far. Hope you enjoy looking, come back soon for more on this lovely little piece.

Pine Chest of Drawers Makeover
This old pine chest of drawers is need of a total makeover and is one of many items waiting in line for some TLC. I am going to make some of my own home made chalk paint in a bright colour to freshen it up - maybe cream and I will add a few enhancements but I'm not sure what kind yet - all suggestions are welcome! I'll get it started and decide as I go along. Keep tuned for more - back soon...
