Well, I finally got around to finishing the project over Christmas as I had lots of time off from work. It took 3 coats of chalk paint in Sand to cover it perfectly. I still have some final touches to do like distressing it, putting on some new door knobs and sealing it but in the meantime here's a before and after photo.
