Painted Furniture

Display Cabinet

This Display Cabinet was originally a very dark stained wood.  Again, the room was being painted a few years ago and I didnt like the contrast between the wall and the cabinet so I decided to revamp it.  With this one I sanded it down completely (hard work!), applied a primer and two coats of paint and when it was dry I sanded it in places to create the desired 'vintage' look.  Unfortunately, I can't locate any of the 'before' photos.  I'll keep looking and I'll post them as soon as I find them.

Linen Cupboard

This pine piece was in my kitchen for years and was being used as a larder, at that time it had a simple wax finish, then a few years ago when redesigning the kitchen I had to move it to another room and decided to do a job on it as it looked a bit tired.  I remember it was at night when I started the job and I just pulled out whatever I had to hand by way of paint etc.  After cleaning it up and sanding it down, I used a cloth to rub it with regular white emulsion paint, I used a walnut colour on top, again just rubbed it in with a cloth.  I don't have the 'before' pic as I didn't know at the time that I would need it for this blog!!
